F.A.Q.

First steps for transferring a domain

To transfer your .ES domain, you must only have access to the administrative contact’s email account. You will receive an email from RED.ES in order to accept the transfer and in a few minutes you will be able to manage the domain from your client area. There are other extensions, mostly territorial (ccTLD), that do not follow the same guidelines indicated. For this reason we recommend you to access the information of the domain extension that you are going to transfer to know its operation.

What is the AuthCode?

The AuthCode or EPP Code is a code or password that must be provided by the current registrar and that will be necessary to accept the transfer in case the domain you want to transfer is .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ or .INFO, between others.

What does it mean to transfer a domain?

The owner of a domain can transfer it at any time between registrars for reasons of: costs, additional services, customer service or language, among others. Most companies make the registrations through an accredited intermediary in ICANN, so it is possible that the processes can be slowed down or hindered by relying on third parties. With DonDominio you will have the guarantee of working directly with an accredited registrar before ICANN. There are only 13 accredited registrars in Spain.

Duration of the transfer and availability

The duration of the transfer will depend on the extension of the domain. As a reference, a .COM, .NET or .ORG domain will be between 5 and 7 calendar days. In case of a .ES the duration is from 15 to 30 minutes once accepted by the administrative contact. During the transfer process your domain will remain operational at all times. If you keep DNS the process will be completely transparent. In case you assign other DNS or hire a hosting once it has finished, it will be pointed to the DNS or the hosting will be activated and you will have to create the email accounts and / or upload your Web to the server.
